Pu-erh originated in the mountains of Yunnan, at the southern tip of the Middle Kingdom, where the tea tradition has been passed down for centuries.
In the town of Pu’er, the leaves were once pressed into cakes intended as imperial tribute. Carried by camel to the steppes of Mongolia and exchanged for wild horses, they gave rise to the legendary ‘Tea and Horse Road’.
Our ripe pu-erh, richly oxidised and carefully fermented, reveals deep notes of damp earth, undergrowth and, at times, a barn, telling the story of its unique terroir.
Gentle on the stomach and low in caffeine, it proves an ideal companion after a meal, aiding digestion, and enhances moments of conviviality over a fondue or raclette.
